Frequently Asked Questions

What makes you different from other transition advisors?

Many "transition advisors" are generalists — no real M&A or succession experience. Greybridge is different. We’ve executed deals and know the wealth management world. That blend is rare — and it matters. We don't hand off a checklist; we bridge strategy, communication, and advisor coordination.

Can you work behind the scenes with an advisor before they introduce you to a client?

Yes. Most advisors bring us in quietly first. We help them assess the company’s situation, surface potential dynamics, and map the right entry point with the client.

Do you manage client assets?

No. Greybridge doesn’t manage assets - we don’t compete with wealth advisors. We’re built to complement you. Our role is to prepare business owners for transition so wealth teams can deliver integrated results aligned with the long-term wealth plan.

Do you act as an investment banker or broker?

No. Greybridge isn’t an investment bank or broker. We don’t run transactions. We prepare business owners for what’s ahead - getting them informed, aligned, and ready to engage the right execution professionals at the right time.

Does someone need to be selling their company to work with you?

No. Not every transition is a sale.  We support family successions, partner exits, and other strategic handoffs. Our role is to help business owners make thoughtful, informed decisions — sale or no sale.

Are you industry-specific?

No. We’ve worked across industries — from manufacturing and logistics to healthcare and business services. While every sector has its nuances, the core activities of transition are consistent  — and that’s our focus.

When should we bring you in?

The earlier, the better.  Waiting until a deal is in motion often means options have already narrowed — and value has already leaked.

What happens if there's no wealth advisor?

We help owners think through the full landscape — including the advisory bench they’ll need (deal advisors, tax, legal, accounting, and wealth). If no wealth relationship exists, Greybridge makes the right introductions.

How are you compensated?

Compensation varies by engagement. Most involve a retainer, often with a success-based component. We walk through the structure in detail when the time is right — no surprises.
